Team Names Overview
Your team name has two parts: a Location (such as a city or region) and a Nickname (such as your team's actual name). Each part has a maximum of 15 characters. There's no rule against two teams in the same league sharing a name, so get creative!
You can also set a 4-character abbreviation for your team.
Pro Tip: Several pages in the app use only abbreviations, so we recommend choosing one that makes sense on its own.
Good to know: If you're joining an existing team, it may already have a name — but you can change it at any time during the season, so don't worry if you inherit something you're not crazy about!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Offensive team names in ESPN Fantasy leagues are subject to change and may result in further consequences. Please review our Offensive Content and Team Managers policy for more details.
