Major League Baseball is returning for the 2023 season, and that means ESPN Fantasy Baseball is returning too!
When will the season begin?
The 2022 ESPN Fantasy Baseball game is live now. The FLB season will begin with MLB's Opening Day (currently scheduled for March 30, 2023).
NEW for '23: Roster and Pitching Scoring Changes
The default rosters for newly created private, public, and ESPN+ leagues in ESPN Fantasy Baseball have been updated. This new format creates exciting lineups and draft experiences for all managers.
The new roster slots are:
- 1 Catcher (C)
- 1 First Base (1B)
- 1 Second Base (2B)
- 1 Third Base (3B)
- 1 Short Stop (SS)
- 3 Outfield (OF)
- 1 Utility (U)
- 5 Pitchers – Starting/Relief (P)
- 3 Bench
- 3 Injury List (IL)
Additionally, we are updating scoring for Pitching to better represent how important Middle Relievers have become in baseball. We added Holds to the scoring categories and changed the value of Wins to 2 points.
- Wins are worth 2 Points (instead of 5 Points)
- Holds are worth 2 Points
NOTE: These changes apply to newly created private, public, and ESPN+ leagues. Any reactivated leagues will retain their original roster and scoring settings.
How is ESPN accounting for the increased likelihood of players ending up on the Injured List due to COVID-19?
