The NFL has different stats for a Fumble Lost and a Fumble Recovered. ESPN Fantasy Football relies on the Fumble Recovered stat. Therefore, in ESPN FFL, Defensive/Special Teams (D/ST) are awarded points they recover a fumble and not when a fumble is lost by the opposing Offense.

EXAMPLE

On Sunday, October 20, 2019 during the Oakland Raiders versus Green Bay Packers game, Derek Carr lost control of the football when diving toward the end zone. The ball went out of bounds through the end zone resulting in a touchback.

• Since the fumbled ball was not recovered by a Packers player, the Green Bay D/ST was not awarded points for Fumble Recovered.
• Had the fumbled ball been recovered in bounds by a Packers player, the Green Bay D/ST would have been awarded points for a Fumble Recovered.
