The Games Started (GS) limit controls how many starting pitcher appearances count toward your team's stats each week or season. The rules differ between Head-to-Head and Rotisserie league formats.
Finding Your Games Started Limit
You can find GS-related information in two places:
- Current week's starts: Visit your League Scoreboard and click the Full Box Score link on your matchup.
- League GS limit setting: Visit your League Settings page.
Head-to-Head (H2H) Leagues
In League Manager (LM) H2H leagues, the weekly Games Started limit is set by the League Manager.
Once the weekly limit is reached:
- Starting pitchers will no longer accumulate points or statistics for the remainder of the week.
- Relief pitchers are unaffected and will continue to accumulate points and statistics normally.
Important exception — same-day overflow:
If your team reaches the weekly limit during a given day's games, all pitchers who started that day will still receive full credit — even if the total exceeds the limit. The limit then applies beginning the following day.
EXAMPLE: Your league has a 12-start weekly limit. You have 10 starts through Saturday. On Sunday, 4 of your pitchers start. All 4 receive full credit, bringing your total to 14. Because the limit was crossed on Sunday (the final day), there are no further starts that week to restrict.
MID-WEEK EXAMPLE: Same 12-start limit. You have 10 starts through Wednesday. On Thursday, 4 pitchers start — all 4 receive credit, bringing your total to 14. For Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, no starting pitcher stats will count.
Rotisserie (Roto) Leagues
Rotisserie leagues use a seasonal Games Started limit of 200 starts.
How the limit is applied:
- A team will not accumulate starting pitcher stats beginning the day after the Games Started limit is reached.
- Because the limit activates the following day, a team may slightly exceed 200 starts.
Example: A manager has 198 Games Started late in the season. On a single day, 5 pitchers start — bringing the total to 203. Starting the next day, the team will no longer receive credit for any starting pitcher stats for the remainder of the season.
Relief Pitchers Are Never Affected
The Games Started limit applies only to starting pitcher appearances. Relief pitcher statistics are always counted, regardless of the GS total.
NOTE: If a pitcher who typically starts appears in relief, that outing is counted as a relief appearance — not a start — and is not subject to the Games Started limit.
