Try these steps in order to identify and fix the issue.
Step 1: Verify Your Internet Connection
Open Safari (iOS) or Chrome (Android) and go to games.espn.com. If you see an error message, your internet connection is the problem — the error should indicate why. These issues are outside of ESPN's control, so contact your internet provider if needed.
Good to Know: The ESPN Fantasy App requires a moderately strong connection to function. Keep in mind that signal bars on your phone reflect voice/call strength — not the actual speed or reliability of your data connection.
Step 2 (iOS Only): Check Cellular Data Settings
Make sure Cellular Data is enabled for the ESPN Fantasy App:
- Open Settings
- Tap Cellular
- Scroll down to the app list and find ESPN Fantasy
- Make sure the toggle is On (green)
Step 3: Try a Different Internet Connection
- On Wi-Fi? Try switching to cellular (3G/4G/LTE).
- On cellular? Try connecting to a Wi-Fi network instead.
- Confirm that other apps or websites load normally on your current connection.
Step 4: Verify Access to the ESPN API
In any browser, test your access by going here: http://games.espn.com/ffl/connectivity. If no error messages appear, your device can successfully reach the ESPN API.
Step 5: Force-Quit and Reopen the App
- iOS: Double-tap the Home button and swipe up on the ESPN Fantasy App.
- Android: Open the task manager (long-press Home or use your device's app switcher) and swipe away the ESPN Fantasy App.
Step 6: Clear the App Cache
- iOS: Force-quit the app (Step 5), then go to Settings → Fantasy (look for the rainbow logo) and tap the Reset slider. Relaunch the app.
- Android: Force-quit the app (Step 5), then go to App Settings → ESPN Fantasy App and tap Clear Data and Clear Cache. Relaunch the app.
Step 7: Reinstall the App
- iOS: Press and hold the app icon, tap the X to uninstall, then reinstall from the App Store.
- Android: Uninstall via App Settings, then reinstall from the Play Store.
