The Multicast feature is currently supported on the ESPN App for Apple TV and Xbox. Multicast allows you to build their own unique Live multicast experience from either:
- Apple TV 3rd Generation and up
- Xbox One & Series X|S
The Contextual Menu from a ‘Live’ content tile
- Apple tvOS: Press and hold on the clickpad
- Xbox: Press the Menu button
- Selecting Multicast from the Contextual Menu launches the Edit Multicast view.
- Edit Multicast enables you to create your multicast from available Live content.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to launch a Full-Screen Multicast
Launch Multicast from the Live video player controls
- Apple tvOS: Select the Multicast icon from video player controls. This is the first icon above the top right of the progress bar.
- Xbox: Press X button when video player controls are displayed.
- Edit Multicast enables you to create your multicast from available Live content.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to launch a Full-Screen Multicast
One-Click Multicast
This feature is available on Apple tvOS and Xbox devices supporting the Multicast feature.
One-Click Multicast is a pre-built Multicast experience that provides users quick access to the best available content from curated Live events across ESPN.
Your Favorite Teams will be automatically included in the One-Click Multicast offering when they share a common sport or league with the curated offering.
When you select One-Click Multicast, you have full control over which event you want to focus on and the ability to Edit the featured events to create your own Multicast experience.
- Apple tvOS: Press the MENU button on the remote
- Xbox: Press the B button
NOTE: If you see the Edit Multicast view after selecting a One-Click Multicast tile, this is most likely a result of missing credentials to access the featured events. Make sure you are logged in before trying again.

- Featured events will be pre-selected when the Edit Multicast view is presented, providing you have access to that content.
- Some events require additional authentication. These will be available in the Live row at the bottom of the Edit Multicast view.
- Select any of these tiles to “Add” the respective event to your Multicast
- If additional authentication is required, you will be asked to Log In to your ESPN+ account or Video Provider account
- Once completed, the event will be added to your Multicast selections
- As long as you have at least two (2) selected events. You may use the identified button on your remote to “Go Fullscreen” to launch into a Multicast experience
- Apple tvOS: Press Play/Pause button
- Xbox: Press the X button
- If additional authentication is required, you will be asked to Log In to your ESPN+ account or Video Provider account
Customizing your Multicast/One-Click Multicast Experience
The Full-Screen Multicast view, enables you to:

Change focus between events by using directional navigation on the remote
- Audio will play from only the current In-Focus event

Change the Order/Position of Multicast layout. Focus on an event in your Multicast and use the respective button on your remote to enter Re-ordering mode. This will allow you to reposition the placement of the selected event in your Multicast layout.

- Selecting the currently focused event brings that single event into Fullscreen viewing

Add or Remove Events from their Multicast selection
- Navigate the “Live” row to remove existing selections or add new ones
- When adding an Event, if there is an offering of Alternate Streams - the user will be presented with a “Stream Picker” when they try to “Add” the event from the Live row

Adjust the Layout of Fullscreen Multicast
- 2-Up - Two events, displayed side by side
- Picture-in-Picture (PiP) - Two events, one primary player with a second, smaller player
- 3-Up - Three Events, one primary player with two smaller players
- 4-Up - Four Events, one primary player with three smaller players
- Grid - Four events, all four events displayed in equal size
